If you’re interested in becoming a filmmaker, creating special effects, developing documentaries, working on TV shows or running and promoting your own YouTube channel, our TV & Film courses will give you the skills to produce professional video products and follow your ambitions.

Our facilities include a range of specialist single-camera equipment and accessories, bespoke TV and green-screen studios. You’ll develop your camera skills with DSLRs and Canon XA35s, as well a range of equipment including gimbles, tracks and drones. You’ll work within the wider creative arts and media department to build sets, record and stream live music and work with performers.

Our high-spec PCs and iMacs are dedicated to editing in post-production and special effects with Adobe Creative Cloud. You’ll use the professional techniques acquired in lectures and tutorials to develop a portfolio reflecting your personal strengths, in preparation for progression to some of the most highly regarded universities in the country.

We work with industry clients to provide meaningful work experience projects, and we provide a range of exciting enrichment opportunities including trips to the Harry Potter Studios, film festivals, the BBC and a biennial international trip.

We are also one of the few institutions in the country teaching the use of celluloid film, on our BA (Hons) Film Production and Cinematography. Some of the biggest and most popular films and TV series of recent years have been shot on celluloid, including Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, Little Women, The Walking Dead and many more.

HND Creative Media Production (TV and Visual Effects)

Delivered at our Chippenham campus, this new course will give you the chance to develop specialist skills such as animation, motion graphics and 3D modelling or TV studio production, lighting and sound.

Real life projects developed in discussion with industry specialists will encourage you to engage with professional working practices so that you are poised to take the next step in your creative career. The TV production pathway is based in our award-winning TV studio where learners will produce everything from traditional TV content to multi camera YouTube streams. Visual effects specialists will gain the skills to fill a gap in the media marketplace embracing the exciting world of digital motion graphics and animation.
