One of UK’s biggest industries, agriculture and its technology are constantly moving forward. And with a £9million investment currently underway to build a state-of-the-art Agri-Tech hub, Lackham is staying at the cutting-edge of land-based engineering.

If you have always wanted to work with tractors, combines and harvesters, our specialist campus for land-based studies is the place to be. Lackham's 1600-acre working estate and workshops make it the ideal place to study land-based engineering. With a wide range of machinery and fantastic links between our staff and industry, your experience at Lackham will provide you with a strong foundation for a career in land-based engineering and farm mechanisation.

We offer courses in Land-based Engineering at levels 2 and 3 which will give you a head start whether you want to progress onto further study, an apprenticeship or seek employment. Studying at Lackham will give you a real insight into how the land-based and engineering sectors operate, learning from our experienced lecturers who are experts in their chosen fields.

Our Level 3 Farm Mechanisation course will allow you to build an in-depth understanding of agricultural processes as well as central skills such as understanding livestock, crop production, machinery operations and estate skills. Equipped with crucial business and management skills, you’ll be prepared to run a successful agricultural enterprise. You’ll have the opportunity to take part in challenging projects, which could include ploughing ahead of the farm’s maize crop or carrying out farm duties.

Students travel from far and wide to study this course, with halls of residence onsite giving a unique, immersive educational experience.
