Part-time/Distance Learning Courses
Highly qualified engineers will always be in demand, and our qualifications will provide you with a solid foundation of skills and experience for your career.
We offer a wide variety of courses and specialist apprenticeships in engineering and manufacturing. Our newly launched Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship will prepare you to work in a wide range of sectors including chemical, primary and secondary pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products and nuclear manufacturing.
We also offer a welding apprenticeship. General welders produce items including components for cars, ships, rail vehicles, simple metallic containers and steelwork for bridges, buildings and gantries. Welding is used extensively in almost every sector of the industry and skilled general welders are in high demand in areas such as automotive, marine, transport, general fabrication and construction.
The department facilities in Chippenham will give you the chance to learn on a wide range of industry equipment. A large, dedicated workshop located on the ground floor houses mills and lathes, PCB production tanks a CNC machine and more. In our engineering labs, you'll build experience with CAD equipment and software, programmable logic controllers, pneumatic and hydraulic rigs and a range of electronic, robotic and mechatronic facilities.
As a College, we are proud of our strong links with industry partners such as Siemens, Babcock, Knorr Bremse, REME and the MOD. These connections allow us to provide you more than just academic experience: you’ll be exposed to varied working environments and develop a real understanding of the standards and practices in industry-leading companies both locally and globally.
With exceptional, industry-standard facilities and experienced lecturers, studying engineering and manufacturing with us will equip you with the skillset to succeed and find employment.
