As a Civil Engineer, your work will influence every day life, creating spaces and structures for work, learning , relaxation and living. Civil Engineers create the large-scale infrastructures that make modern society possible, and our courses in Civil Engineering will equip you with the skills you need to enter this growing industry.

You’ll learn building methods and construction technology, mathematics for civil engineers, planning and design processes, incorporating the environment into your work, and practical skills including safe working practices, managing excavation, plant and piling, laying domestic draining, levelling and setting out.

Through strong industry links we have developed a Civil Engineering Academy with industry leader MJ Church. The MJ Church Academy is designed to develop and train the next generation of Wiltshire’s Civil Engineers, Site Managers and Quantity Surveyors by providing high-quality workplace visits with stimulating and challenging practical and theoretical workshops. Students on the Academy learn how to sustainably design, construct and build infrastructures such as roads, bridges, railways, dams, drainage, water and sewage reticulation systems, harbours, tunnels and runways.

As a Civil Engineering student, you’ll be able to produce solutions to real, diverse problems in a safe and environmentally appropriate way.

With training in Civil Engineering you’ll be highly sought-after in the construction industry, with a large skills shortage making you highly employable and well paid.
